Trib Total Media 2013 Lip Dub Contest

ELIGIBILITY:

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. All federal and state regulations apply.

Only public or private high schools located within one of the following Southwestern Pennsylvania counties are eligible to submit: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Indiana, Washington and Westmoreland Counties.

 

HOW TO ENTER:

Submission period begins Friday, September 13, 2013 at 12:01 am and ends Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:59 pm

  • Find the Lip Dub contest link at www.contests.TribLIVE.com.
  • Fill out the online contest entry form and upload your high school's self-created video and group photo.
  • Do not drop-off or mail videos or photos. Only videos and photos that are submitted thru the contest website (TribLIVE/Upickem), have completed entry forms, and meet all submission guidelines (below), will be accepted.
  • Limit ONE (1) Lip Dub video entry per high school.
  • Registering early (before the video is ready) - is not required, but is encouraged - and is the only way to receive emails with up-to-date information on Lip Dub, with helpful contest info, deadline reminders, and troubleshooting access.

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Video, photos and entry form MUST be submitted by an adult, 21 years or older, employed as a faculty or staff member of the submitting high school or employed or volunteer school authorized booster club representative, sport or activities coach or advisor.  By submitting the entry form, video and group photo, the high school's faculty or staff member agrees to all rules, grants consent for the song selection and grants consent that all high school students appearing in the video and group photo have been approved and cleared by the high school's administration.  Submission of a video constitutes permission for such images to be utilized for publicity purposes within the Trib Total Media products. Uploaded video and photo MUST meet the following requirements:

  • ALL STUDENT PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN GRADES 9 THROUGH 12.
  • Limit ONE (1) unedited song per video. No mash-ups!
  • Trib Total Media has secured the rights to fifteen (15) songs that the students are able to use for purposes of this contest. PARTICIPANTS MUST CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING LICENSED SONGS:
    1. I’m On Top Of The World - Imagine Dragons
    2. It’s Time – Imagine Dragons
    3. I Want Crazy – Hunter Hayes
    4. Never Ever Getting Back Together – Taylor Swift
    5. Mean – Taylor Swift
    6. Feel This Moment – Pitbull [Radio Edit/Clean Version]
    7. Best Song Ever – One Direction
    8. Can’t Hold Us – Macklemore [Radio Edit/Clean Version]
    9. Everybody Talks – Neon Trees
    10. S.O.S. - Rihanna
    11. Tonight is the Night - Outasight [Radio Edit]
    12. Respect – Aretha Franklin, et al
    13. Material Girl – Madonna
    14. Beat It – Michael Jackson
    15. Walk Like an Egyptian – The Bangles
  • Participants must lip-synch the words of the song used on the sound track.
  • Video must be shot in ONE continuous take in the high school and/or on the high school grounds.
  • The ONLY editing technique allowed within the one continuous take is adding the final audio soundtrack to the video. (No special effects, special filters, etc.)
  • We will allow a brief opening and closing "skit" that must be no longer than :30 seconds each - but they must be included in the "one continuous take" of the entire video.
  • The ONLY video graphic/text allowed may be in the beginning or ending of the video (opening introduction/closing credits). No other video graphics or effects allowed within the continuous take.
  • Video file size cannot exceed 200 MB.  Please note, the video file you send will be compressed in order to run properly on the contest website, so please use the highest resolution setting you can to ensure good viewing quality, even once compressed.
  • Videos must be in one of the following formats:
    • .avi, .dv, .mov, .qt, .mp4, .mpeg, .3gp, .asf, .wmv, .mpg
  • Each High School must submit one (1) digital group PHOTO with their submission, which must be a high resolution JPEG.

Non-student adults, including, but not limited to, high school administrators, faculty and/or staff, may guide and advise the production and appear in the video but may NOT operate any video or editing equipment.

 

Videos may not include profanity, graphic images, obscene images or inappropriate behavior.  Trib Total Media, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify anyone for any said violations, as determined in Trib Total Media, Inc.’s sole discretion.

 

Registration
Register your school’s intent to submit a video online as early as possible. Registering early (before the video is ready) - is not required, but is encouraged – as it is the only way to receive emails with up-to-date information on Lip Dub, helpful contest info, deadline reminders, and troubleshooting access .

 

Employees of Trib Total Media, Inc. and their immediate families are not eligible to participate in any video submitted. Trib Total Media, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if the contest rules are not followed. No substitution of prizes or transfer of prizes to a third party is permitted by winner or runners-up.

 

All materials submitted will become the property of Trib Total Media, Inc. and will not be returned. Any expenses you incur during the application process are solely your responsibility. Eligible entries will be posted and available for viewing on the Lip Dub contest website (link available at www.contests.TribLIVE.com)By registering for this contest, entrants may receive e-mails from TribLIVE.com or Trib Total Media. E-mail addresses are never sold to third parties.

 

 

APPROVAL:

After a video, photo and entry form have been submitted, Trib Total Media, Inc. will contact the high school representative (listed on the entry form) within two (2) business days to confirm entry information. Video and photo submissions will not be posted to the Lip Dub contest website prior to the school representative confirming all information related to the entry submission to the satisfaction of Trib Total Media, Inc.

                             

Once reviewed and confirmed, eligible videos and photos will be posted to the Lip Dub contest website (link available at www.contests.TribLIVE.com) and be available for public viewing on web and mobile devices.

 

VOTING:

All approved videos received by November 8, 2013 at 11:59 pm, will be available for voting on the Lip Dub contest website (link available at www.contests.TribLIVE.com).  Voting begins Friday, November 15, 2013 at 12:01 am and ends Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11:59PM. Visitors to the Lip Dub contest website, will need to become a “Registered User” with Upickem (the contest website) in order to vote.  There is no purchase necessary to become a Registered User. Register Users must be at least 13 years of age. 

 

Upickem Registered Users may vote up to TEN (10) times per day. Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified.

 

WINNER:

There will be one (1) grand prize winning video and one (1) 1st place runner up video. Winning videos will be determined by online votes and will be announced in Trib Total Media newspapers on Sunday, December 8, 2013 and on the Lip Dub contest website,  www.contests.TribLIVE.com on December 9, 2013.

 

In the event of a tie, the winning video will be drawn at random from among the tied videos.

 

PRIZES:

  • One (1) verified grand prize winning high school will receive a check for $5,000 and 100 Lip Dub T-Shirts.
  • One (1) verified 1st place runner up winning high school will receive a check for $1,000 and 100 Lip Dub T-Shirts.

All checks will be made payable to the high school listed on the entry form and will be delivered either by certified mail or in person to the head administrator at each of the winning school. All prizes will be subject to forfeiture if not claimed within 30 days of notification.

 

LIABILITY:

Trib Total Media, Inc. is not responsible for problems associated with television transmission, radio transmission, cable transmission, satellite transmission, phone lines, Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, or other Internet interruptions or malfunctions or for any technical or other difficulties which may prohibit, prevent, or interfere with the transmission of television or radio signals to all or limited geographic areas during the playing of the Contest or which may interfere with a participant's ability to login or register or submit an entry online, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God that are beyond the control of Trib Total Media, Inc.  Trib Total Media, Inc. disclaim any warranty of merchantability, warranty of fitness, and any other implied warranty. Trib Total Media, Inc. is not responsible for cancellations, postponements, or delays.

 

CONTEST MANAGEMENT:

ANY ATTEMPT, AS DETERMINED IN THE SOLE DISCRETION OF TRIB TOTAL MEDIA, INC. TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST.

 

Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to damage any online service or web site or undermine the legitimate and fair operation of the Contest will disqualify the contestant responsible and is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Trib Total Media, Inc. reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies from any such person to the full extent permitted by law.

 

All decisions relating to the contest and interpretation of these rules are made by the management of Trib Total Media, Inc. in its sole discretion and are final. Trib Total Media, Inc. reserves the right to change the rules at any time to ensure the fair administration of the contest and compliance with applicable laws.

 

If for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, and unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Trib Total Media, Inc. which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity of the contest, Trib Total Media, Inc. reserves its right in its discretion to disqualify any individual it believes has tampered with the entry process, and/or cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. Trib Total Media, Inc. and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees (i) assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alternation of, entries: (ii) are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or provider, computer equipment, software, failure of any email to be received by Trib Total Media, Inc. on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to the participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this contest.

You must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Pittsburgh Tribune-Review cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.

Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.

Employees of Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.

Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

Entrants further grant to Pittsburgh Tribune-Review the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.

UPICKEM and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.

All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.

Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
